Dr. stefan prestel
Stefan leads the Quantum Utility Exploration team, investigating the potential of diamond quantum computers. This includes detailed a system modeling and simulation, identifying innovative ways to exploit the system as analog devices, and developing architectures that lay the groundwork for error-corrected diamond quantum computers.
Stefan is a distinguished scientist with 60+ publications spanning high-energy particle physics, algorithms and data analysis that have been cited more than 20 000 times as of early 2026. Previosuly, Stefan explored differentiable programming and light dark matter detection as an Associate Professor at Lund University, high-performance and quantum information as a staff scientist at Fermilab, and algorithms and precisions particle physics simulation at fellowships at DESY, Stanford and CERN.
Stefan holds a PhD and a Docent (Habilitation) in Theoretical Physics from Lund University.
