Wolfgang heads the global Atomic-scale Fabrication program in Germany where he pioneers the development of an innovative technology to manufacture arrays of NV qubits in diamond crystals with sub-nanometre precision.

With a background in atomically precise manufacturing of quantum devices in silicon and germanium, Wolfgang brings valued experience from his work at the Centre for Quantum Computation & Communication Technology in Australia, where he contributed significantly to adapting a unique STM-based device fabrication from silicon to germanium, making substantial contributions to the field.

Wolfgang has deep expertise in translating semiconductor fabrication processes and materials from laboratory settings to industrial-scale fabrication, including leading a research team and the quantum technologies program at the Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics in Germany, advancing emerging technologies towards practical applications for industrial-scale 200mm-CMOS pilot lines.

Wolfgang holds a PhD in Physics from the University of New South Wales in Australia and a Master’s in Physics from The University of Münster.
